TOXSA Workshop
In vivo and in vitro methods to identify and evaluate chemical health hazards: establishment of laboratory facilities and provision of training in the Risk Assessment of chemicals in South Africa
Risk assessment in general and for registration purposes of pesticides in particular have been conducted in developed countries for many decades. The practice of risk assessment is relatively new to the African continent as they depend on risk assessments conducted in Europe and America. This workshop will therefore address the toxicological test requirements for the registration of pesticides and cosmetic products, in vivo and in vitro methods used to identify and evaluate chemical health hazards, the establishment of laboratory facilities required for toxicological assessment of chemicals, and finally the risk assessment process for chemicals.
Attendance of this workshop will therefore be of great benefit to delegates, especially from African countries, who are involved or would like to be involved in the risk assessment process or would be interested in establishing test facilities on hazard identification of chemicals.
